Frequently Asked Questions

Pop Up Cinema provides professional movie screen rentals, projection equipment, sound systems, and full setup and breakdown for your event. We create the experience — you enjoy the show. 


No. Clients are responsible for providing the movie content. Pop Up Cinema does not supply movies. 


By booking with Pop Up Cinema, the client assumes full responsibility for complying with copyright laws and securing any required public performance license for the movie being shown. Pop Up Cinema does not provide or manage licensing. 


 

A public performance license is typically required for events that are:

  • Open to the public
  • Promoted or advertised
  • Ticketed
  • Hosted by schools, churches, businesses, or community organizations
     

Private backyard gatherings generally do not require a license, but clients are responsible for determining their specific needs.

Most setups are designed for 2–4 hours, depending on the package selected. Additional time may be added for an extra fee. 


 

We offer multiple screen sizes, including:

  • 11.5 ft screens for smaller gatherings
  • 15 ft screens for medium events
  • 20 ft screens for larger events and community-style setups

We’re happy to recommend the best size based on your space and guest count.


Yes. We offer both indoor and outdoor setups, provided there is adequate space and access to power. 


 Clients are responsible for:

  • Providing access to a standard power outlet within 20 feet of the setup area
  • Ensuring the setup area is clear and accessible
  • Providing the movie content
     

We handle the rest.


For outdoor events, weather is monitored closely. In the event of unsafe conditions, we will work with you to reschedule. Weather-related cancellations are issued as credit only; refunds are not provided. 


 

To request a booking:

  1. Complete the Booking Request form on our website
  2. We will review availability and event details
  3. You’ll receive a confirmation, invoice, and next steps
     

Submitting a request does not guarantee availability.


Yes. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking date. Your event is not confirmed until the deposit is received. 


 

Yes. Available add-ons may include:

  • Popcorn machine
  • VIP lounge seating
  • Bouquet bar
  • Themed décor
  • Additional event time
     

Availability may vary by event.


We recommend booking at least 2–4 weeks in advance, especially for weekends and special events. Availability is limited. 


Pop Up Cinema serves Charlotte and surrounding areas. Travel fees may apply for locations outside our standard service area.
